Alexander Rotondo (b.1992) is an American Photographer based in New York City. Ritual and historical context are at the center of his photographic practice. With a focus on time, color and detail, his work in portraiture and projects in fashion and architecture show change, personality, and vibrancy in both people and places alike. Rotondo’s specific and distilled interest in subjects — Neapolitans by the sea, an old Roman fountain or a group of sailors carrying GAP bags through the Vatican all has led the photographer to travel extensively, culminating in a long-gestating body of work, a years-long meditation on the centuries-old Palio di Siena horse race, held in Tuscany, which for Rotondo has a familial appeal. Through his lens, one sees detail, immediacy and change, all together.
